The failing rains of April 2009 have turned the lush greens of Pugu Hills in barren bush. The costly water shortage has a positve aspect, too. Animals can be seen and heard at Pugu Hills, there seems to be more food security at the Nature Centre. The dry season also brings the Narina Trogon back to Pugu.
The suni, a tiny antilope like the dikdik is now a resident at Pugu Hills and the Rondo Dwarf Galagos are already running around in the cashew nut tree at the campsite at 5:00 p.m. in the bright daylight and confident that they will not be hurt at the Nature Centre.read more....

German Map Pugu Forest Area from August 1898. A German settler left a map of his farm which covered a major portion of the Pugu Forest. It was sent to Pugu Hills in 2008. read more .........
